Greater Dallas Korean School(GDKS) is hosting the 2018 Summer Camp at Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea.

GDKS chairman of the board Ken Kim, along with the GDKS Planning Committee Chairwoman Jiyoon Yoon, held a news conference Monday March 12 and talked about the details of the program.

Ewha Woman’s University is a private women’s university in Seoul, South Korea founded in 1886 by the American Methodist Episcopal Church. It is currently the world’s largest female educational institution and is regarded as one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea.

While this marks the first time GDKS is hosting a joint summer camp with Ewha Woman’s University, Ken Kim and Jiyoon Yoon have been collaborating with the premier South Korean college in their private practice of international education exchange for over 10 years.

According to Ken Kim, the purpose of this summer camp is to give the second generation of Korean-American youths the opportunity to experience the Korean culture first hand and to increase the level of self-esteem as Korean-American.

The program is also open to anyone who is not enrolled at GDKS. This includes Korean adoptees living with American families and any non-Korean adults who is interested in visiting South Korea to experience the Korean culture and learn the language.
