Consular Office of the Republic of Korea in Dallas’ Head of Mission Sung Lae Hong presented an Ambassador for Peace Medal to Grady J. Crawford(deceased)’s family member Colleen Crawford and expressed gratitude for his sacrifice.
Marine Corps Pfc. Grady J. Crawford went missing in the Korean War and his remains returned home to Dallas after almost 70 years.
Sung Lae Hong met with Colleen Crawford last Thursday, October 24th at Café Mozart in Carrollton and presented her with the medal. Also in attendance were Korean American Coalition DFW Chapter’s president Christine Lee and former president John Jun.
Pfc. Grady J. Crawford fought in the Chosin Few Battle during the Korean War but was listed as mission in action in November, 1950.
His remains were kept in Hawaii since then. But after verification, his remains were returned to his family in Dallas on September 27th.
Colleen Crawford said his father and uncle both fought in the Korean War and thanked the South Korean government for remembering her uncle’s sacrifice.
