Korean American Trade Association of Dallas held its annual general meeting and elected Nam-Sun Baek as its 15th president Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Sura Bistro.
Nam-Sun Baek, who has been serving as the executive vice president, will be taking over 14th president Jeanne Smith’s post.
Nam-Sun Baek and Jeanne Smith were both nominated as the candidate. However, Jeanne Smith declined the nomination, citing time constraints due to her growing business.
Jeanne Smith will serve her term until the end of this year.
Nam-Sun Baek, in his acceptance speech, emphasized the importance of continuation of what Jeanne Smith accomplished during her presidency.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to serve this great organization as the next president. But at the same time, I have this great sense of responsibility to carry on what Jeanne Smith has done during the past two years. I hope to lead this organization so that the members and the Korean American community in general can benefit from what we do” said Nam-Sun Baek.
David Moon, CEO and founder of the Sam Moon Group, founded this organization. David Moon urged all members to take pride and carry on the tradition.
“This organization is one of the premier organizations in the Korean American community of North Texas. With the new leadership of Nam-Sun Baek, let us carry on the tradition and help the members and the Korean American community move forward” said David Moon.
Korean American Trade Association of Dallas is planning to host the installation ceremony and year-end-party in mid-December.
