It seems like the North Texas social media world is buzzing with ‘2019 K-POP Together.’

But what exactly is it? Is it just another version of the famous Dallas Korean Festival?

Most people understand it to be a K-POP concert/festival taking place on October 26th and 27th, in celebration of Zion Market’s Dallas(Lewisville) opening.

While the perception isn’t totally incorrect, there’s more to 2019 K-POP Together than what most people think.

According to John Yoon, the event promoter, 2019 K-POP Together is the stepping stone for something larger – like Austin’s SXSW.

While the main attractions of the event are performances by top K-POP groups Weki Meki and Chic Angel, the event promises to be more than just a K-POP festival.

The basis for the event is ‘MICE.’ It is the latest marketing concept and stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions, or Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events.

According to theplanner.guru, MICE is a type of tourism in which large groups, usually planned well in advance, are brought together for a particular purpose.

For example, ‘Meeting’ refers to the idea of coming together of a number of people in one place, to confer or carry out a particular activity.

One perfect example of MICE-based event is the SXSW. Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, SXSW is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries.

The K-POP showcase is one of the most popular elements of SXSW, where veteran and up-and-coming K-POP groups and bands showcase their talents.

‘2019 K-POP Together’ is the first phase of the 5-year plan to bring such an event to Lewisville, Texas. It is a collaboration project between the City of Lewisville, Zion Market, and the Music City Mall.

In addition to the marquee K-POP performances, it will feature local K-POP voice/dance teams’ performances, wide range of Asian foods, and fun activities for all ages.

“2019 K-POP Together is not just another Dallas Korean Festival. It’s not definitely designed to be a competing event, for that matter. The focus is on bringing people together and celebrating the cultural diversity that the city thrives on” says promoter John Yoon.

The event is open to public and free. Event hours are from 11:00AM to 9:00PM on Saturday, October 26th and 11:00AM to 7:00PM on Sunday, October 27th.

More detailed schedule of the event is being worked out, according to John Yoon. So, check back with Asiaindallas.com or check out the event’s Facebook page for more information.
