2019 Dallas Korean Festival Committee held an open audition for individuals and teams that want to perform on the main stage of the festival.
Held last Friday, September 20th at the Elite Center’s theater in Carrollton, the audition provided an opportunity for the committee to select the best performers.
Total of 34 teams applied for the audition. Some were from faraway places as Florida, Houston, Austin, and Oklahoma. The teams from these places submitted a video clip of their performances.
25 teams showed up for the actual audition. According to Jay Lee, the director in charge of the festival, about 13 teams were stage-ready while the remaining teams were cut or advised to improve their performances in order to be invited to the festival.
Performances at the audition included K-POP dance, vocal, magic trick, musical instruments, aerobic team dance, line dance, B-Boy dance, Taekwondo demonstration.
“Although the open audition is over, anyone who thinks he or she got what it takes impress the crowd at the festival can call the Festival committee for a tryout” director Jay Lee said.
Jay Lee will be traveling to Korea in the beginning of October to meet with Korean idol groups SUNPER and NeonPunch, and some of the Korean tradition performance teams in Korea.
