The Korean American Women's Association of Dallas(KAWAD) is hosting 2018 annual Spring Bazaar for Korean Adoptees on Saturday April 7.

The purpose of the bazaar is to raise funds to help Korean adoptee students pay for their trip to Korea.

KAWAD selects several Korean adoptee youths every year and pay for their trip to Korea. For the most adoptees, it is the first time ever they get to visit their ‘mother country’ since they were adopted.

KAWAD hosts this event to help the Korean adoptees find their roots, and establish their identities as Koreans living in the United States.

Reviews from the past participants have been phenomenal. Participants get to see, first hand, the astonishing economic development the country has achieved through the years and get to experience the latest Korean pop culture. They also get to visit some of the best known historic and cultural sites in Seoul.

According to Jane Kang, the president of KAWAD, Korean adoptees who participate in the program come back home “feeling proud of being Korean descendent, rather than being an adoptee.”

KAWAD will be selling authentic Korean style homemade food. Menu includes Kimchi, Mandoo(dumpling), Tukbokee(rice cake cooked in spicy sauce), fish cake, tempura, Korean style seafood pancake, just to name a few.

Visitors can eat on the spot or order their food to go. KAWAD will also be selling some of the latest women’s fashion items as well. Price range is reasonable.

For any questions, contact executive V.P. of KAWAD Myung Hee Lee at 214-682-5560.
